Walking through our corridors, classrooms, cafeteria and playgrounds is the best part of my day. The sound of happy students, eager to learn, is a continuous source of pride and motivation.

Michelle Eriksen, Early Childhood & Lower School Principal

Michelle was born in Minnesota and completed her undergraduate degree in education at the University of Oregon. After teaching in the Seattle area, she moved to the UK in 1991 with her Norwegian husband. She taught in the British system before joining ACS Hillingdon as a teacher in 1992. Her MA in Education from Oxford Brookes University focused on Policy, Planning and Management in international schools; her dissertation explored the outcomes of international education for Middle School students. Michelle has been the Lower School Principal at ACS Hillingdon since 1997. She is committed to high expectations and the success of all students. Under her leadership, student achievement and parent survey results have been consistently high. Michelle has served on several accreditation teams, and she holds Principal Certification in New Jersey, International School Leadership Certification, and is qualified to serve as a Principal Mentor by the National Association of Elementary School Principals. Her two children attended ACS Hillingdon from Kindergarten through Grade 12.

The enthusiasm of our students is palpable, as:

  • A third grader excitedly shares his writing
  • A first grader proudly asks to read to me
  • A kindergartener enthusiastically shows me a bug her class has just discovered.

We take a genuine interest in each child, and we believe in establishing positive adult-student relationships and in differentiating instruction to meet each individual's needs. These are key to developing children’s confidence, nurturing their strengths and supporting them to reach their potential.

Our annual parent survey consistently validates our ethos, culture, and success. If you are seeking an established international school with a strong sense of community, pioneering use of integrated technology, and a proven academic track record, come visit.

We look forward to welcoming you.
