Tony Eysele, Head of School, ACS Cobham

Tony Eysele was born and educated in South Africa. After leaving university he started his teaching career in a large state school where he taught Chemistry and Physics. He progressed into independent schools, initially as a Head of Department and then as a Vice-Principal. During this period Tony completed an MBA certificate in Organisational Behaviour, which he believes has stood him in good stead as an educator. Tony was then asked to be the Head of a struggling state school in Johannnesburg and to privatise it. With the support of a highly committed staff, Helpmekaar College became one of the premier private schools in South Africa. Six years later he was appointed Headmaster of St.John's College in Harare, Zimbabwe. Tony recognised the value of the rich and diverse cultures in the school and introduced the IB to enhance the educational curriculum. In 2004, Tony and his family relocated to the UK when he was appointed Foundation Director at Lord Wandsworth College. Tony joined the ACS community in August 2011.

Educating children is a great responsibility and privilege in equal measure. To make it work, we need to put a lot in. This begins with seeding the desire for lifelong learning in every student. Then we instill a respect for diversity, an appreciation for what it takes to be a global citizen, and bring out the skills to both follow and lead.

Ultimately, our students gain the self-confidence to achieve academic and personal success through:

  • The International Baccalaureate Diploma
  • Advanced Placement International Diploma
  • Advanced Placement Capstone Diploma
  • Advanced Placement courses
  • US High School Diploma.

We are proud that our graduates attend the university of their choice anywhere in the world.

Our goal is for every student to finally outgrow us. We want them to become ready and able to take the next step, secure in the knowledge of who they are, and what they do best. Ours is the care in preparation. Theirs is to go out and make a difference.
