Our Lower School programme is based on sound educational practices, which reflect our beliefs and values.

The ACS Core Purpose and Values are woven throughout the fabric of a well-balanced curriculum, allowing students to thrive as happy, confident, and successful learners.

Our curriculum revolves around a core of language (reading, writing, listening, and speaking), mathematics, science, and social studies. We provide a strong academic foundation, and we encourage students to be creative, think critically, communicate, and collaborate. Technology is one of the tools we utilise to achieve this. Our one-to-one iPad programme provides students with unique learning experiences that facilitate higher level thinking in new and innovative ways. Students visit specialists for instruction in art, music, physical education, languages and cultures (kindergarten through grade 2), and Spanish (grades 3 and 4). Our library supports all curriculum areas.

Ongoing academic assessments provide us with data about where each child is on their specific learning path, and we use this to plan the differentiated instruction to meet each child's individual needs and learning styles. Our group results indicate that we exceed both the US and international comparisons in all subjects tested.

Our students celebrate our diverse cultural backgrounds, and they are able to participate in many activities and events, including assemblies, musical performances, field trips, extracurricular activities, and community service. For a number of years, the Council of International Schools (CIS) has selected the Lower School Student Council for an International Student Award.
