English as an Additional Language (EAL)
Grade 1 to 8 teachers work closely with non-native English-speaking students in the classroom, and one-on-one or in small groups outside the classroom, to support speaking, listening, reading, and writing needs.
Grades 9 and 10 students participate in specially-designed transition English, with the goal to mainstream them into the High School curriculum as quickly as possible. The High School does not offer an EAL programme for beginners.
Native Language Enrichment (NLE) Grades 1 to 10
Non-native English-speaking students are encouraged to maintain their native language and culture by participating in our NLE programme. Currently there are 11 languages taught after school, and these vary from year to year depending on demand. There is no cost for this programme, as long as there are at least three students participating per language.
Parents of students whose native language is not offered in the NLE programme are welcome to contact the school for a list of possible private instructors.
